SILAI

Duration: 8 weeks
Role: UX/UI Design, Brand identity
Tools: Figma
Location: Toronto, Canada

Introduction

Silai is an AI-driven e-commerce platform that enables Punjabi women to order custom-fit traditional suits online by using AI to analyze customer photos for precise measurements, streamlining the tailoring process.

My role was to was to address the challenge of making custom-tailoring more accessible and consistent for Punjabi women by designing an intuitive user interface and establishing a strong visual identity for the platform.

Problem Space

Punjabi women frequently need custom-fit traditional suits for various events, but the current process is time-consuming and inconsistent. Most shops lack online platforms, relying on in-person visits and self-measurements, which are often unreliable.

The final design includes key features like a plug-in that integrates with social media platforms like Instagram. When a user finds a suit they like, they can easily transition to the Silai platform, where an AI algorithm accurately measures them based on photos taken with their phone.

INSTRUCTIONS SCREEN

The instruction screen guides users on how to take the best photos for accurate measurements, showing tips on angles

This screen is vital to ensure users capture the correct images and angles, leading to precise measurements and a better fit for custom suit

scanning SCREEN

The scanning screen helps users take accurate photos by providing prompts, a countdown timer, and a silhouette guide to show the correct positioning for each angle.

These on-screen prompts ensure users capture the right images for precise AI measurements, leading to a more accurate fit and better tailoring results.

Results SCREEN

The results screen shows users their custom measurements, with options to hide their face and add personal notes for the tailor. It also allows users to redo the process if they are not satisfied with the results.

This screen ensures users can review and adjust their measurements, providing flexibility and privacy, which enhances their confidence in the custom suit order..

Questionairre SCREEN

The questionnaire screen gathers essential details from users, such as their age, weight, and height, to help AI tailor the suit accurately

This screen is key to personalizing the fit, as the information collected allows AI to adjust measurements based on the user’s unique body

Process

Initial Thoughts + MotivesAfter researching and user testing the AI platform, I identified the need to simplify the custom tailoring experience for Punjabi women while addressing the lack of digital presence among local tailoring shops.
